‘Perfect Imperfection’ showcases in conversation-ceramic works and still-life paintings by Sandra Harrison @harrison_ceramics and Kelly Southee @kellysoutheeartist
Sandra Harrison
Sandra Harrison splits her time between Brisbane and Melbourne as a potter who works in stoneware and earthenware. Well known for her large white symmetrical bowls and more recently for her body of work called Perfect Imperfection Slump Neck Vases. Sandra first started to practice ceramics in 2019 and took a ceramic gap year to study at the Brisbane Institute of Art, Clay School (West End), and Mas & Miek Ceramic House. Dedicated to learning all things clay, she developed a firm grounding in wheel throwing, hand building, slip casting, alternative firing techniques and glaze development. Sandra recently returned to ceramics full-time and is developing her practice by combining wheel throwing and hand building. She is currently creating a new body of work inspired by Scandinavian Design.
Kelly Southee
Kelly Southee is a visual artist based in Salisbury. Born in New Zealand to parents who enjoyed building many homes, selling and then moving on, Kelly grew up with an eye for detail; and an awareness that no matter where you might move to, the objects that move with you are the ones that create a home and provide a grounding and appreciation of life. Kelly has a keen interest in honouring all that is special about our places and our lives: homes, still life objects, and the pieces we love to treasure. Enjoyed daily, Kelly's paintings and drawings can be found in private and corporate collections around the world.
